How do we learn to forgive those who have caused so much pain to so many?
Nobody said it was easy.
In my opinion it says more about you than it does the perpetrators.
If we carry around this anger and bitterness in our lives, it also rules our lives.
People sadly will hurt us either by accident or on purpose, and maybe we may also hurt others.
Grandparents understandably have very strong feelings on forgiveness, and everyone must act as they see fit for themselves.
Holding on to resentment, constantly reliving the circumstances that have caused such pain, only hurts one person and thats ourselves.
Forgiving someone doesn’t mean that you are condoning their behaviour in any way, or that you are giving them permission to carry on the hurt.
Forgiveness allows you to be free from all of the angst and turmoil going on in your head, it is about finding peace in your life, it allows you to have a clean slate.
It takes a long time to forgive someone, you can’t just wake up in the morning thinking all is well, it is a process.
Everyone asks the question why? Why did this happen to me? It may well be that we will never understand, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start the process of forgiving or for feeling better.
This is all about you not the person who has hurt you.
It is you taking back control.
Forgiving someone is powerful.
You won’t forget the wrong done to you, but you will be able to leave it in the past.
You owe it to yourself to let it go, surround yourself with people who love and care about you, enjoy and take stock of everything that is good in your life.
Live your life.
