Dear ……. ,

Being a parent is the hardest job in the world, you try hard to bring your children up knowing the difference of right from wrong. You teach children to always think of others and you hope that they will grow into wonderful people.

Being a Grandparent is something totally unique and not like being  a parent at all.

The first time you hold your child’s, child in your arms something magical happens, not something that I can put into words really, because it is a feeling so deep and comes straight from the heart. There is this tiny little person looking up at you, you hold the future in your arms.

I have to admit of being a bit nervous the first time I met you, it was a long time ago that I had held a baby, but the nervousness disappeared almost immediately, there you were pure and new.

The years past so fast, that was almost 18 years ago, and yet I can still close my eyes and see you, feel your little heart beating and feel your tiny fingers in mine.

So much has happened from then until now.

You will have grown into a young lady, with your own thoughts and feelings.

My Christmas wish for you is that you are happy and that you are surrounded by people who love and care for you.

I hope you are what you want to be not what others want you to be, to have the self confidence to follow your dreams.

Take time to look at the stars and to wonder at all living things.

Sit by the sea, feel sand between your toes.

Curl up on the sofa and read a good book, whilst holding a mug of hot chocolate.

Listen to children’s laughter.

Offer someone a hand to hold who needs it.

Above all else be true to yourself.

Happy Christmas Darling.

Love always,

Gran. xx
