Who is protecting the children?

I have written countless times about this, but nothing is improving, children are still being let down by the authorities who are there to protect them.

I accept that charities and SS are struggling with lack of funding and shortage of staff, but none of that is ever an excuse for allowing children in the UK to suffer, some in silence some although shouting out loud , still not being listened to.

How many more times do we have to listen to the well worn out phrase, “Lessons will be learnt.” Clearly they are not being learnt.

How many times do children have to make serious disclosures, to school staff, Social Workers, CAFCASS officers, lawyers, advocates and the list goes on and on, and yet nothing is done.

The system is not fit for purpose, secrecy enshrines family justice, but within all of this, children are being neglected, harmed, abused emotionally and physically, the authorities are responsible.

It makes no difference to a child who is a prisoner in their own home, a child who is not being looked after properly, a child who is not allowed friends, a child who is threatened by the adult in their lives, whether there is enough staff or funding.

Being privy to these cases is heartbreaking, not being able to make it better for these children is unbearable. I have always believed that children are protected by all of the charities and departments set up for that reason but if SS say all is ok, they are unable to override those disgraceful decisions, when clearly things are not ok.

My question is, who on earth is SS answerable to?

The misguided, cruel and just plain wrong decisions are being made on a daily basis, leaving some children hopeless and desperate, what is it saying to these children?

It says, “you have no voice, your voice has no value.”

Our society is falling apart around our ears, the children of the UK are being let down.

No child should have to suffer this way.
