Silence is Golden.

Those of you who read my blogs, and thank you for doing so, will may have noticed that recently I have not been writing as frequently as I used to, I was wondering why that was.

I don’t think there is one reason but several.

We have several members who have been and continue to be going through some very difficult times indeed, particularly with their health, those who are living with life limiting illnesses, and their families are going through it with them, supporting them and being a continual source of strength.

It is not a time to be bitter and angry about the past, not a time for seeking revenge, the only thing that truly matters is that people are surrounded by love and care from those close to them at this very difficult time.

Of course any one of us who has been touched by being denied contact with our grandchildren, knows how it feels, but to constantly go over and over the whys and the wherefores is not helpful. We can’t change what has happened we can only hope that one day the situation will change.

All of us are on a journey of one sort or another, endeavouring to reach a destination. It is about how we travel along the road that counts, thinking of others, helping others has to be the best way of reaching that destination.

None of us know what the future holds for us, but we need to be able to deal with whatever is to be with dignity and resilience, I don’t believe we can do that without letting go of the bitterness.

I was also disappointed to read something by someone I respect enormously who said that we should listen to the ‘experts’ those who have studied the issue of estrangement ect, and that ‘self-help’ groups are not the place to go for ‘expert’ help. I am sorry that I don’t have a degree, or qualifications on the subject, but I absolutely believe those of us who have experienced being apart from those we love are the genuine ‘experts.’

Sometimes, silence is better than commenting.

For those of you who are enduring horrible times, you are in our thoughts every day, take strength from those around you.
