We are all worrying about our family and friends at this difficult time, the not knowing is incredibly painful.
Whilst we are spending hours and hours in this forced isolation these thoughts go around and around our heads, these thoughts prevent us sleeping and prevent us from functioning in some cases.
It is more important than ever that we practice self compassion.
In other words start to look after ourselves mentally and physically.
Be kind to yourself.
Acknowledge your hurt.
What would you say to a friend if they were suffering.
Try not to ruminate, going over and over the past is not helpful.
If someone you love, was feeling like you do at the moment, what would you write to them in a letter? Write it and address it to yourself then read it out loud.
Recognise that others are feeling the same as you are, you are not alone. Get in contact with us by phone or email if you want support.
Remember that is ok not to feel ok.
We will have our own ways of self compassion, focus on something that gives you pleasure and joy.
One grandparent has taken up drawing, something she always wanted to do but didn’t have time. For me I like baking, trouble is I need to find someone else to eat the cakes!
Another has taken up photography, doing the most amazing micro photos of insects, truly beautiful.
I know when we are feeling in the depths of despair it is so hard to get motivated, so try and keep up a structure in your day.
Remember you are not alone, we are here for you, we will and can face this uncertain time together.
