A tear drop slides down our faces
A tear of sadness and despair
There is a time to cry.
Our memories are not of sadness
But of joy and laughter
The memories are in our hearts
Just for us and no-one else
The children hold us in their hearts too
Always there, just a heartbeat away.
Children don’t want to see us cry
They want us to be strong for them
For our voices to shout for them.
Together we can shout loud
We may not be together today
But who knows what tomorrow will bring
They are our grandchildren
We are their grandparents
Their history, their identity
They are the future.
No tears shed for the children
A smile, a thought a memory
We will be here, always.
A time to shine.
