Mental Health

Over the last few years we have been encouraged to ‘talk’ and that it is ‘ Time for Change.’

To talk, about our mental health, according to the Mind website 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year

Within the world of alienation mental health can be used for all the wrong reasons.

There are different ways that mental health is cited.

Those who alienate will often say that it is necessary to  keep their children apart from a parent/grandparent, as they have at some point in their lives suffered with mental health issues.

I know of many grandparents who have experienced low periods, it could be whilst their children were growing up, it could be after a trauma of some sort, it could be as a result of a physical medical condition, whatever the cause, it is held against them.

The now adult children will say all sorts of dreadful things to their parents/ in-laws, inferring that because of past mental health issues they are suddenly an unstable influence.

Needless to say, if someone is a proven danger to children then that is a very different matter.

In most cases, the incident when the parent/in-law was unwell, was years ago.

They tell their children that they wont be safe if they are with their non resident parent/grandparents, and children become afraid of them, hiding from them if they see them when they are out.

In a perfect world, there should be care and compassion, but all too often it becomes just another tool in the arsenal of alienation.

Alienators will stoop to the very lowest level.

Some grandparents are so distraught by this they get a doctors letter to say they are ‘safe’, this doesn’t feel like the ‘time for change’ envisaged, in fact it takes us back to the middle ages.

Life is hard, things happen, things that can break us, you can call it a nervous breakdown, a mental breakdown or stick one of the numerous labels that get banded about nowadays, but whichever high profile celeb is telling us to ‘talk’ has no idea how mental health can be used in such a shocking way.

It is ‘ Time To Talk’ and to shout out how this can be used against you.

Another point of view, would be that those who alienate are actually unbalanced themselves, as no one who is balanced would behave in this despicable way.

For those who feel that mental health is something to use against another, remember that you may well find yourself  suffering from mental health issues, and I am sure you would want others to show care and compassion towards you, not to punish you for it.
