If I had a grandmother that looked like you, I would ban the kids from seeing you.

Many of you have been in touch in response to the comments made under the article written by Dame Esther Rantzen yesterday.

I made it a rule some time ago to never read comments that were anything to do with an article we are involved in.

We know that there are many very sad, vicious people who sit at their keyboards happily writing the most abusive things they can think of, and I expect there will be blogs ect written in the same way.

There are those who will never understand how it feels to be estranged from grandchildren, there are those who take any opportunity to put the knife in where they knows it will do the most damage. I recall one CEO of an organisation writing some really dreadful stuff, talking about how -TV shows and newspapers keep rolling out these old people, putting on fake tears.’

Others who readily describe us as toxic.

Articles Marc and I have done over the last 10 years will always throw up the best but also the worst in people.

One criticised how I looked, my clothes, my face, my weight and said that  if they had a grandmother that looked like me that they would ban me from seeing the grandchildren.

Then there is the stuff I can’t repeat.

What is interesting that although you always try to do your best sometimes even those you are supporting, turn on you. That is the thing that causes me more hurt than anything.

So for me, I am sticking by my rules and am not reading this rubbish, if I did I would never be able to be involved in writing stuff.

Those keyboard warriors, don’t know me or any of us, they are cowards who hide behind the anonymity of social media.

Each and every one of us, knows the truth, that is all that matters.
