Fundraising

It will come as no surprise to anyone that running a charity costs money to enable it to reach those that the charity was set up for in the first place.

Bristol Grandparents Support Group doesn’t have a membership fee therefore we are reliant on donations.

In the past we have been fortunate to be able to put on a couple of concerts with help and support from others, which helped to keep funds going.

We are eternally grateful to those who have a standing order for BGSG , but raising funds is becoming increasingly more difficult.

Over the last few years we have produced plants asking for donations and it has become a community event. People come in and ask when the plants will be ready. In the midst of bleak Winter,  Marc and I can be found shivering in a cold garage potting on tiny plants ready for the Spring and Summer. ( I am going for the sympathy vote here!)

We have been able to take part in supermarket token schemes and charity collections.

Cream Tea events are a good fundraiser as well, with the good will of our neighbour we open both our gardens for the afternoon.

The cost incurred by BGSG are many and varied.

Here are some examples of our annual costs, the support line itself costs over £200, although it looks as though this year that will have increased by a large margin, trustee insurance, web design, maintenance , domain hosting costs, stationery, printed leaflets, posters, accountants fees, travel costs, company house fees, plant sundries (compost, pot, labels ect) costs of meetings tea, coffee, sugar, ect.

I hope that gives a rough overview as to what it costs to run BGSG.

Without donations we could not carry on other than financing it all ourselves, as we did when we started, but that is not sustainable, now.

Please do get in touch if you feel you can support BGSG, or go to the donate button on our website.

Thank you so much to those who already support us.

Jane.
