For the first time in 10 years I am really beginning to feel hopeful.
As you know a couple of weeks ago we went to London to meet Nigel Huddleson MP and Dominic Rabb Minister for Justice with Dame Esther Rantzen.
Over a period of 10 years we have met and talked to many people, they always are very respectful and sympathetic but then let you down with a bump, saying that they acknowledge the importance of grandparents in the lives of grandchildren but that is as far as it goes.
Today, it feels different.
Nigel Huddleson raised a question at Prime Ministers Question time, about grandparents access with grandchildren.
True, I really wish he had said Grandchildren’s Rights, but nevertheless to hear it being raised in Parliament is a step in the right direction.
On his Twitter account it says: I just asked a PMQ on a change in the law to give grandparents access rights to their grandchildren. I have been proud to raise this issue alongside Dame @ERantzen and other grandparents and I am confident that the Government is considering this proposal seriously.
I would like to once again publicly thank Nigel for his support on this very important issue.
Jane.
