Yesterday 14 of us met up for our regular group meeting, a group of strangers all those years ago, being brought together with a common sadness. Some of those here yesterday have been coming since the very first meeting nearly 10 years ago.

A group of people that we consider now to be true friends.

Their friendship is something we will be eternally grateful.

We have held each others hands through those dark days, and rejoiced in those who are now reunited with their families.

We have all reached different places at different times, and know that it is a slow process, but we are always there for each other.

In those 10 years I have listened to some of the most painful stories, stories that I never thought I would hear.

I will never understand why family members have to hurt each other so badly, things get said that can never be erased, actions taken that are unbelievable, this month we lost a grandparent who was never given the opportunity to see her grandchildren, even when someone is at the end of their lives, it seems forgiveness is nowhere to be seen.

Even though I have listened to tears being shed many times, it is something that I will never get used to.

Although yesterday there was lots of chatter and laughing, a grandparent was still quietly crying in the corner, a grandparent not knowing if they will ever see their grandchildren again, the heartbreak continues.

All we can do is to offer a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold total empathy.

Thank you to everyone for their friendship, and continuing support to others.

We all need Peace, Love and Unity in our lives.
