I recently watched a very moving video of a little girl aged 7 years old, just with a simple request that her Mummy and Daddy are happy, and she goes on to say that she just wants everyone to be happy.

It all seems so straightforward to hear her words, what a shame that as we grow into adults things don’t always work out that way.

Maybe we need to all learn lessons from the young.

Of course everyone has to ride the rough with the smooth, life was never supposed to be easy, life is not about who has rights but everyone taking responsibility.

Responsibility, in our personal lives, our working life and the way we treat others.

My family, like yours, would of course do anything to right the wrongs that have caused us to be apart from people we love, it’s not about who was to blame. If indeed anyone is.

The little girl in the video isn’t blaming anyone she is just asking her parents to be happy.

Happiness is there for everyone, we just need to recognise it and use it to make our lives and those around us better. It is so easy to go down the black spiral when these awful things happen in our lives, it is much harder to pull ourselves up and out of an abyss, but when we do we are stronger, more confident and ready to make positive steps.

I have said many times that we can’t be responsible for other peoples behaviour, or even understand them but we are responsible for our own behaviour, and we have a responsibility to make our lives count, we can do that by stepping out of ourselves and reaching out to someone who is in despair.

So, to the little girl in the video, I will do my best, thats all we can every do, we need to be able to go to bed at night believing we have done our best, in our hearts know that we have taken responsibility.

We can’t change what has happened in our lives, but we can change the present and grasp the future as an opportunity.

Together we are stronger.
