I have received this email and said I would post it to see if anyone would be interested. Please contact me if you are.

“I’m not sure whether you will be able to help but I thought I might send you a email just in case you can!

I’m a mother of two and currently working a small production company doing some

preliminary research for a programme idea about Estrangement.  The idea came from the director who himself suffers from an estranged relationship with his father.  We’ve spoken to a range of people, some who have no contact with their parents, other are estranged from their siblings – some who want reconciliation and some who don’t.

It struck me yesterday as I was watching my own kids playing with their grandparents

(they often help out when I am working) how tragic it is for both the grandparent and child not to have any contact with each other, what ever the age.  And so I wondered whether that might be something we need to explore within the programme.

The main ambition of the programme is to bring people who are estranged or on brink of  alienating themselves- together, with the help of a leading psychotherapist who specialises in this field.  We are under no illusion that this will be possible with all cases but if there is at least a desire (even from one party)  then perhaps we can at least try to  help.

I wondered whether you might know of anyone who might be able to help us with our  research.

Many thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes

Rosie Hinchliffe “
